Below are the steps to register and tips for an optimal experience.

Steps for accessing the live video classes:

1 Click on this link to see our Living Yoga Schedule or from the LivingYogaDenver.com website go to the Classes tab, click on schedule, and our Living Yoga Schedule hosted by Mindbody will appear. Click on Sign In for the Live Video Class you would like to take and sign in to your Mindbody account. If this is your first time signing in to your Living Yoga Mindbody account, choose “Create a New Account”. If you are already a current student with Living Yoga, you already have an account on Mindbody so be sure to use the same email that we have on file for you. This way when you create your new account it will link with the class package you already have with the studio. Your current package will apply to the live video classes.

If you are new to Living Yoga, even if you have a Mindbody account with another studio, you will create a new Mindbody account with a new password, that is unique to your Living Yoga Mindbody account.

2 After logging to your account be sure to check all of the boxes to receive emails from Living Yoga. This is how you will receive your Zoom link to access the live video classes.

3 After you register for the class, an email with the Zoom link will automatically be sent to your email. Give yourself at least 10 minutes prior to the class beginning to get logged in to Zoom as it can take a few minutes to get set up, especially if it is your first time logging in. Click on the link in the email, then click on “Join a Meeting”. If it is your first time to Zoom it may ask you to register your name and email (for free). Another way to log on is by going to Zoom.us , click on “Join a Meeting”, then add the “Meeting ID” number also included in the email.

4 If you are using a tablet (iPad) or smartphone, you will need to download the zoom.us app.

5 After you log in to Zoom, your computer will ask you if you want to connect with the audio (say yes) and the video (say yes) and then we will be able to hear and see each other, as well as see and hear your classmates.

6 You have an option to mute your audio, which the instructor may request. If you have noise around you such as barking dogs or ringing phones, these will be heard by the other students and will be a distraction during the class. To mute yourself, hover the cursor over the visual square of you then click on mute. You can click to unmute anytime if you have a question. Another option to try is adjusting your audio settings and lowering the audio output.

Tips for setting up an optimal video/yoga space at home:

1 For optimal positioning, place your laptop 6 to 8 feet away from your mat. Angle the camera to where your mat is seen as well as all of you when standing on it.

2 Have a block, belt, and blankets if available to you. Have any additional props nearby.

3 If you have access to a wall, set up near the wall.

4 Plenty of light makes it helpful for the instructor to see you.

If you need additional props, Living Yoga does sell props (wood blocks, belts, blankets, and mats). If you would like to arrange to purchase something, contact us. With the current situation of social distancing, your best option may be to purchase props from an online yoga prop retailer.

There are also many household items that work really well as yoga props.

Here are a few prop ideas:

– Towels can work in place of blankets

– Rolled blankets or towels can create a bolster

– Books can be used instead of blocks

– A dining room chair can used in place of blocks or as a yoga chair

– The back of a couch can be a trestle (horse) or act as a wall for support

– An ottoman can be used as a block, chair, VK box (like the couch used in the photo above)

– Firm pillows can be used for the back or shoulders when reclined or in shoulder stand

– Shelf liner for a sticky mat

– And, hockey sticks can be used in place of poles for shoulder work (photo-compliments of a current student!:)

If you find a cool new prop for your practice, take a photo and send it in. It might also be a helpful idea for others!

During this time of greater physical distancing, which for many feels isolating and is riddled with fear for the unknown future, we hope the continued practice and Living Yoga community can aid in bringing peace as we all move through this time.
